WordPress has been updated to run on a version that’s not a few years out of date, and the new forum system is up and running. All non-guild members have been pruned. The old forums will remain functional for a while, and can be accessed via http://www.wow-echelon.com/forums/, but is no longer linked to the main site and will not be updated or used. The login information for the old site will be the same as that of WP when the forums were linked.
New site/forum features:
Variable-width: More efficient use of screen real estate.
Real forum integration: Designed explicitly for use within WordPress, instead of relying on a hack like PunBB was.
Post linking: Posts made on the site (like this one) will automatically show up in the Announcement forum as well, which means it might finally get some use. =)
Avatars: Supports Gravatars, which allow for a global avatar to be set for all websites/forums which support it. User uploaded avatars are also available.
RSS: Seperate RSS feeds for each group of forums. Probably won’t be all that useful, but it’s there.
Tags: Can add tags to forum threads for better (maybe) organization and searching.
And maybe others that I can’t think of right now. But try it out and see!

Upgraded WordPress (what the main page runs) to 2.5.x, which broke the integration with PunBB (what the forum runs). That issue should be resolved. Those who registered, or updated their profile/password in the past few days, please log in to WordPress and update your password again, and then you should be logged in to the forums.

The sending of e-mails for registration and password reset was previously broken, but has now been fixed. Everyone who never received their e-mail with password during registration can use the “Lost your password?” link on the login page to reset it.
Forums had to be re-done. If you really loved the old one… well, sorry, but nothing can be done about it now. Anyway, as you can probably see, the website and the forums are both up and running now, and they’ve been integrated to share a single registration/login process. And registration does require a valid e-mail address, so if you usually sign up for these with something like “lookatme346875@hotmail.com”, too bad. As of now, you can register/post on the forums without fear that I’ll trash the site/forum/databases.
Anyway, it works well enough, with only some slight idiosyncrasies: when you first log-in, you’re taken to the Dashboard for WordPress, where you can change your user options. Kind of annoying, but you can just click the “View site” link on the upper left to go back to the main site:
Same goes for logging out – if you try to do it from the forum, it’ll send you back to the Dashboard, where you can click the upper-right to sign out:
But, unless you really love repeatedly signing in/out every day, it shouldn’t be a big deal. And the DKP page will be up soon-ish. I hope.
P.S.: If you’re Kizu or Ahindwe, don’t try to sign up, as I used your names while creating test accounts to test stuff. Ask me for your login info. :-)
